Steven B. Hamermesh

Prior to joining Barry Slatt Mortgage, Mr. Hamermesh was the Chief Executive Office for Penstar Realty Advisors Inc. and the firm’s Co-Founder. Mr. Hamermesh began his real estate career in 1981 and has closed in excess of $3.3 billion in structured debt/equity and sales transactions of properties located throughout the United States and Canada.

Throughout his career, he has developed long-standing relationships with high level decision makers within his debt and equity source clientele. The continued fostering of these relationships has led to repeat finance and sales transactions from his substantial network of owner/developer clients involved in commercial and residential projects.

Prior to the establishment of Penstar Realty Advisors Inc., Mr. Hamermesh was Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of a real estate advisory firm that arranged $1 billion in annual transactions. He also served as Director of an investment fund acquiring corporate properties throughout the United States and Canada on a sale leaseback basis. The fund closed $2 billion in acquisitions with companies such as Wells Fargo, General Mills, Ashland Oil, Kelly Paper, United Health Group, and Cub Foods.

In 1992, Mr. Hamermesh joined George Smith Partners as the Director of National Lending. During his 12 years at the firm, he was involved in structuring debt/equity transactions located nationwide. At George Smith Partners, He was also elected to serve on the board of the A-T Medical Research Foundation, raising public awareness of Ataxia-Telangiectasia, a rare degenerative disorder. Through the organization of regularly scheduled executive events including the annual A-TMRF Real Estate Luncheon, Mr. Hamermesh was instrumental in helping to raise more than $5 million in charitable donations for continued research of A-T.

Leadership, hard work, and an ethical approach serve as the foundations for his real estate career and his personal life. This approach allows his clients continued and reliable access to low-cost capital for their residential and commercial properties and developments; as well as a timely and efficient closing process.
