Slatt Capital is a privately held and respected firm with more than four decades of experience in commercial mortgage banking. Our founder was one of the seminal figures who helped shape the face of this industry. The former President of the California Mortgage Bankers Association, Barry Slatt stood for entrepreneurship and lasting relationships—important values we still live by and believe in.
Today, the company—and the market—look much different. Since taking over in 2004, our current generation of leadership lead by Dan Friedeberg and Michael Kaplan have quadrupled the size of the firm and remain committed to our founder’s legacy forged by building genuine relationships, fostering entrepreneurship, and excellence in service.
We are one of the premier commercial mortgage bankers in the country. There is a significant difference between the service and execution of a mortgage banker compared to mortgage brokers or full-service real estate firms. Mortgage Bankers have access to proprietary correspondent lenders and are focused on the long-term relationships, certainty of execution, and life of the loan service. Brokers do not maintain the same kind of relationships with lenders as mortgage bankers, and are transactional. The large full-service shops are capable of meeting the leasing, management, and sales needs of their clients but don’t have the singular focus of mortgage bankers, who service only borrowers and lenders.
